Congratz!

Congratulations to the Bronx Bombers' Captain and starting short stop Derek Jeter, who has became the all-time hits leader in Yankees history, doing it on this historical day (9/11/09). In the third inning of tonight's ball game against the Baltimore Orioles, number 2 hit a single off of rookie starter Chris Tillman. With that single, Jeter passed Lou Gehrig, "The Iron Horse," becoming the franchise's all-time hits leader with 2722 hits, a record which stood unbroken for 70 years. By officially taking the top of the list, Jeter looks down at legendary names such as "The Babe" Ruth, Mickey Mantle, Joe Dimaggio, and Bernie Williams.

Congratulations to a future Hall Of Famer - The greatest Yankees short stop of all time, Derek Jeter!
