Iverson Joins Grizzles

From "practice", to winning a championship, to not coming off the bench, former MVP and 10 time all-star Allen Iverson has made his way back onto an NBA team. After finishing the 2008-09 season with the Detroit Pistons, AI refused to return to the team, as he stated that he'd "rather retire than come off the bench." After it seemed that no NBA team wanted Iverson's services at a starting guard spot, rumors arose that the Memphis Grizzlies had interest in Iverson. After talking with the team for several weeks, AI announced Wednesday (September 9th) that he has decided to sign with the Grizzlies. With a one-year deal worth $3.5 million, the 34 year old joins a Memphis squad who finished 24-58 last season. Likely not looking at a championship shot, Iverson is likely just joining the Grizzlies so he will have another chance to play in the NBA. By joining the Grizzlies, Iverson will be back in the Western Conference, where he was when he was apart of Denver Nuggets organization, and will likely be taking over the starting Point Guard role (with OJ Mayo at Shooting).

The 2009-10 NBA season kicks off October 27th, 2009.
